About the Role
Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking a Systems Administrator for our client in Southlake, TX. This position plays a key role in maintaining and supporting enterprise IT infrastructure, ensuring the stability and efficiency of systems, networks, storage, and virtualization environments. The ideal candidate will have 3-4 years of system administration experience, the ability to work independently, and strong expertise in enterprise-level IT environments.
This is a hybrid role, requiring three days onsite and two days remote per week. Some travel (up to 20%) may be required.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and manage enterprise IT infrastructure, including servers, virtualization, storage, security, and networking.
- Specialize in Windows environments, virtualization technologies, and data networks.
- Maintain and support Active Directory (Microsoft Entra ID), DNS, and SAN environments.
- Manage VMware vCenter, VMware ESXi, and Horizon (VDI) infrastructure.
- Oversee Cohesity backup/restore processes and disaster recovery planning.
- Support Cisco UC phone systems, particularly Polycom-based environments.
- Maintain and troubleshoot Nutanix HCI (Hyper-Converged Infrastructure) solutions.
- Design and implement process improvements and system optimizations.
- Provide technical leadership and serve as a subject matter expert on IT systems and applications.
- Train and support junior administrators, ensuring best practices in system security and management.
- Use scripting and automation tools (PowerShell) to streamline IT operations.
- Assist in root cause analysis and resolution of complex system issues.
- Collaborate with Cybersecurity teams to deploy hardened system images.
- Document and improve system processes, IT policies, and end-user support procedures.
- Partner with executives, engineers, and vendor technical teams for issue resolution and infrastructure planning.
Qualifications & Requirements
- 3-4 years of systems administration experience, capable of working independently.
- Strong expertise in enterprise storage, virtualization, and server management.
- Hands-on experience with:
- EMC/Unity storage solutions
- VMware Horizon (VDI) and VMware ESXi
- Active Directory (Microsoft Entra ID)
- Cisco UC Phone Systems (Polycom experience preferred)
- Cohesity backup and restore solutions
- Nutanix HCI infrastructure
- VMware vCenter Administration
- Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for task automation.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex IT infrastructure issues.
- Experience in disaster recovery planning and execution.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with both technical teams and executive leadership.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- Industry certifications preferred:
- Microsoft (MCSA, MCSE, or equivalent)
- VMware (VCP-DCV, VCAP, or equivalent)
- Cisco (CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent)
- Nutanix certification
