The New York City Police Departments Information Technology Services Division (ITSD) is actively seeking a highly qualified and motivated Certified IT Administrator (LAN/WAN) IV. In this role, the candidate will play a crucial part in supporting the Department by collaborating across various ITSD Sections, ensuring seamless integration between different environments and applications. Responsibilities include assisting ITSD with planning and coordinating the implementation of cutting-edge technology. Additionally, the chosen candidate will serve as a liaison between ITSD and the Information Security Division.
ITSD oversees critical projects and technological initiatives within the NYPD. They maintain and enhance the department's IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, and workstations. Notably, the ITSD has rolled out various advancements, such as equipping officers with cellular phones applications and digitizing department forms to improve efficiency. The Certified IT Administrator (LAN/WAN) IV role is pivotal in maintaining the NYPD’s technological edge and promoting safety and effectiveness in law enforcement operations.
The Certified IT Administrator IV will be responsible for (but not limited to) the following job duties:
- Develop Comprehensive Project Plans for IT Operations projects, including timelines and work breakdown structures.
- Create and maintain Developed Systems Solutions Architecture Diagrams using MS Visio.
- Ensuring proper system backup and recovery procedures are in place for all platforms.
- Operating system Patch management; monitoring, logging, and resolution of all system related problems and errors.
- Collaborate with other teams, provide subject matter expertise and recommendations.
- Monitor and maintain all Windows server issues including the DNS, DHCP, file, print, certificate services, Windows Active Directory and general server issues.
- Provide technical support and communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
- Resolving incidents and fulfill requests in a timely manner using ServiceNow.
- Troubleshoot and correct system misconfiguration, problems and outages.
- Analyze and review system logs for errors and report user errors.
- Follow change control procedures for system updates/upgrades and new needs requests.
- Work closely with CyberSecurity to implement security policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications
Professional/vendor certification(s) in local area network administration that is required for the position to be filled. In addition, all candidates must have the following:
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college, and two years of satisfactory full-time (not classroom based) experience in local area network and/or wide area network planning, design, configuration, installation, implementation, troubleshooting, integration, performance monitoring, maintenance, enhancement, and security management; or
- A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and six years of satisfactory full-time (not classroom based) information technology experience of which at least 2 years must have been as described in "1" or
- A satisfactory equivalent of education and/or experience equivalent to "1" or "2" above. Education may be substituted for experience on the basis that 30 undergraduate semester credits from an accredited college is equivalent to 6 months of experience. A master’s degree in computer science or a related field from an accredited college may be substitute for one year of experience. However, all candidates must have at least one year of satisfactory (not classroom based) full-time information technology experience as described in "1" above.

- Technical knowledge of VMware Horizon Platform including Workspace One -Advantage knowledge of Dell/EMC storage components. -Working experience in VMware Aria Automation Orchestrator -Experience in implementing and managing all VMware and Azure infrastructures. -Strong working knowledge and experience managing Windows -Infrastructure Server roles including Active Directory, DNS, Group Policy, DHCP and Print Services, Certificate Services. -Strong working knowledge in administration of Active Directory including on-boarding/deprovisioning users, user account management and the delegation of permissions. -Strong working knowledge of installation, configuration of Windows Server 2019/2022. -Strong working knowledge scripting with Powershell. -Extensive knowledge of OpenShift. -Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
