CommIT Enterprises is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Cloud System Administrator (Cloud SysAdmin) to manage and maintain our organization's cloud infrastructure. As a Cloud SysAdmin, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the availability, performance, security, and scalability of our cloud systems, applications, and services. This role requires hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud, and expertise in system administration, automation, and cloud-based infrastructure management.
Established in 2001, CommIT is a Certified Veteran-Owned Small Business (CVOSB) providing innovative technical engineering and data science services. Our enterprise systems support includes the Department of Defense’s (DoD) GCSS-MC, CAC2S, TBMCS-MC, and the Department of Veteran’s Affairs’ (VA) telehealth communications. We offer acquisition management, systems engineering, Agile software development, cloud management, IT modernization, data analytics, cybersecurity, and training, including leading-edge DevSecOps, automated testing, and mobile application development.
Your essential job functions will include but may not be limited to-
- Cloud Infrastructure Management:
- Design, implement, and manage cloud infrastructure using platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Ensure optimal performance and reliability of cloud-hosted applications and systems.
- Perform regular cloud resource monitoring and optimize resource utilization.
- Manage virtual machines, storage, networking, and security configurations in the cloud environment.
- Automation & Scripting:
- Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and management using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
- Write and maintain scripts (e.g., Bash, Python, PowerShell) to automate repetitive tasks and streamline processes.
- Security & Compliance:
- Implement security best practices, including IAM (Identity and Access Management), encryption, firewall configurations, and security monitoring.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and company policies (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, SOC2).
- Regularly perform security audits, vulnerability assessments, and remediation actions.
- Incident Response & Troubleshooting:
- Monitor cloud-based systems for potential issues, respond to incidents, and resolve problems in a timely manner.
- Troubleshoot and resolve cloud infrastructure issues related to performance, uptime, and connectivity.
- Work with cross-functional teams to ensure system stability and reliability.
- Backup & Disaster Recovery:
- Design and implement backup and disaster recovery strategies for cloud-hosted applications and data.
- Regularly test and update recovery procedures to ensure business continuity.
- Collaboration & Documentation:
- Collaborate with development, DevOps, and network teams to integrate and optimize cloud solutions.
- Maintain clear documentation of cloud infrastructure, configurations, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Provide guidance and support to other team members or departments as needed.
Required Experience and Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 3+ years of experience as a Systems Administrator, Cloud Administrator, or similar role.
- Hands-on experience with major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Strong knowledge of Linux and Windows server administration.
- Experience with automation tools (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation, etc.).
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
- Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.) is a plus.
- Knowledge of networking, VPNs, firewalls, load balancing, and DNS in cloud environments.
- Familiarity with cloud security principles and best practices (e.g., IAM, encryption, threat monitoring).
- Experience with monitoring and alerting tools (e.g., CloudWatch, Datadog, Prometheus).
- Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect).
- Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code (IaC) practices and tools.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Familiarity with cloud-native services like Lambda, Azure Functions, Google Cloud Functions.
- Experience with monitoring and performance tuning for cloud-based systems.
