Overview
TAI is the market leader in life reinsurance systems in North America with clients in the United States, Bermuda, the Caribbean, United Kingdom, South Africa and Hong Kong. TAI is focused on simplifying reinsurance administration through software and service solutions. TAI Software automates reinsurance administration for life, annuity and longevity business and TAI Services helps identify and solve areas of reinsurance risk. As an integral part of the Senior Leadership Team of TAI, the
Chief Technology Officer (CTO) will be responsible for
- supporting the technology associated with the TAI infrastructure, existing product base, and new product base.
- developing and maintaining vendor and joint venture partner relationships, for each of the key supported functions.
- playing an important role in the implementation of client projects, ranging from software implementations, upgrade projects, and custom modifications to align the TAI Life and Health Reinsurance system with the ceded reinsurance business processes for domestic and international clients.
What The CTO Will Do
- Responsible to coordinate with TAI management team to create annual TAI technology/product/release plan and create/modify software development methodologies and process that supports TAI base product(s) and new product development.
- Responsible for day-to-day management of software development process that supports TAI base products and new products while working internally and externally across multiple functional areas including, Product Management, Project Management, Actuarial, Finance, Underwriting, Claims, and IT.
- Responsible for day-to-day coordination with project management and quality assurance functions to ensure features and client business needs are being met.
- Drive continuous improvement environment using project and process outcomes as baseline for improvements and prepare quarterly product/project updates for TAI board meetings.
- Lead and participate in the implementation of client projects, in addition to collecting, documenting and analyzing business requirements from key client accounts.
- Coordinate with vendors and joint venture partners on an as-needed basis to ensure that TAI’s requirements/standards are met, lead and collaborate with TAI Programmers to develop design solutions for existing or new TAI products and services.
- Work within TAI to coordinate interdepartmental activities in order to ensure that TAI meets customer expectations. Proactively anticipates and resolves problems to ensure that customers receive prompt, efficient service.
- Conduct complex tasks and activities within TAI and/or externally to obtain information such as life reinsurance policy data, cession data, managing the implementation of insurance products and/or business process workflows into the TAI Life Reinsurance system and work with other departments, conduct interviews, lead workshops, or conduct primary or secondary research to gather client data if information is not readily available.
- Ability to prepare/negotiate new client software license and maintenance agreements while leading preparation of client statements of work for new, upgrade or custom projects with clients and vendors that results in a positive outcome for all parties
Candidate Requisites
- Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS)
- Master’s degree in Arts/Sciences (MA/MS) MBA Preferred
- Minimum of 8 years of life and health reinsurance, policy administration or related experience
- Advanced proficiency with Excel, .Net and/or COBOL, working knowledge of SQL, database software, and Access
- Must have experience writing and managing business specifications, technical specifications, project plans, and other project documentation
- Advanced analytical and problem solving skills able to clearly link results to operational performance drivers; able to generate alternatives and drive positive change
- Exceptional communication skills, with an ability to present and discuss technical information in a way that establishes rapport, persuades others, and provides understanding of project related information to a diverse audience (engineers to executives)
- Exceptional ability to liaise with individuals across a wide variety of operational, functional and technical disciplines
- Exceptional ability to make timely and effective decisions and produce results through strategic planning and the implementation and evaluation of programs and policies
- Highly motivated and able to function in the absence of complete information.
- Ability to work independently and work across functional areas during projects and able to work with management and key stakeholders

- FLMI, ARA, or industry related certification are desired assets

Compensation Range
$175,650.00 - $261,600.00 Annual
Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. RGA also maintains a full range of health, retirement, and other employee benefits.
