Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled Systems Administrator to join our dynamic IT Infrastructure team. You will assist in system administration tasks, troubleshooting, and ensuring the smooth operation of our IT infrastructure, supporting both Windows and Linux-based server environments, including cloud-based and appliance-based technologies.
This position is focused on data center and infrastructure platforms, but some escalation from, and direction to, other teams (Desktop Support, Security, Applications, etc.) is expected. The role provides an excellent opportunity to grow your skills in system administration while contributing to the success of a hardworking team.
This role also requires on-call availability for overnight issues escalated from support teams and may include limited travel.

Job Duties And Responsibilities
- System Administration: Assist in the installation, configuration, and management of Windows and Linux servers, ensuring they run efficiently and securely.
- User and Permissions Management: Support user account creation, modification, and permissions across both Windows and Linux environments.
- Server Maintenance: Regularly perform updates, patches, and security fixes on both Windows and Linux systems to maintain system integrity and performance.
- Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Monitor system performance, troubleshoot hardware and software issues, and ensure server uptime meets company standards.
- Backup and Recovery: Assist in setting up, maintaining, and testing backup systems to ensure data protection and recovery procedures are in place.
- Documentation: Maintain clear and detailed documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
- Security: Support security audits, implement security patches, and monitor systems for potential vulnerabilities and intrusions.
- Collaboration: Work closely with senior IT staff and other departments to support ongoing projects and resolve technical issues.
- Learning and Growth: Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in system administration and actively pursue opportunities for professional development.
- Participate in and sustain 5S Standards.
- Must follow all required Safety and ISO procedures.
- Miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Education/Experience & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- 1-3 years of experience in a desktop support or similar role. Hands-on experience in system administration with both Windows Server (2016/2019/2022) and Linux distributions (e.g., Oracle Enterprise Linux, CentOS, Red Hat).
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server management (Active Directory, Group Policy, etc.).
- Familiarity with Linux system administration (file systems, user management, package management, etc.).
- Experience with command-line tools on both platforms.
- Basic understanding of networking (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP).
- Experience with server monitoring tools and logging systems.
- Strong troubleshooting skills, with the ability to identify, diagnose, and resolve issues quickly and effectively.
- Good written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with team members and document technical processes.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment and support cross-functional teams.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V, KVM, etc.).
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
- Experience with automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Salt) and scripting languages.
- Basic understanding of database management systems (MySQL, SQL Server, etc.).
- IT certifications (CompTIA, Microsoft, Linux Professional Institute, etc.) are a plus.
Working Conditions
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working at a computer using a keyboard and mouse performing repetitive tasks.
- Ability to open file cabinets, reach with hands and arms, bend, and twist, lift and move files.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where required.
- Must comply with all work exposure EH&S training requirements and adhere to SIG SAUER Inc. Security Mandates.
