Sr. Infrastructure Support Administrator to join a dynamic team based in
Lowell, MA. This full-time role offers the opportunity to take ownership of the day-to-day administration, security, and optimization of network infrastructure while ensuring a high-performance and reliable IT environment. This position is integral to supporting infrastructure improvements, troubleshooting, and maintaining system integrity across various environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee hardware, firmware, and operating systems for physical and virtual technology environments, including servers, routers, switches, firewalls, VPN, Active Directory, VMware, and network monitoring.
- Manage and maintain a secure, high-performing multi-site Windows Active Directory environment, including Group Policies and Windows Server Operating Systems.
- Actively engage in implementing infrastructure improvements by developing project plans, leading team activities, maintaining upgrade schedules, and recommending enhancements.
- Monitor and troubleshoot network performance issues, proposing solutions to improve efficiency, availability, and overall system performance.
- Ensure network integrity and security by implementing and managing access controls, patch management, vulnerability remediation, and firewall security.
- Supervise the Infrastructure Support help desk to ensure prompt and effective resolution of user requests and manage escalated matters as necessary.
- Collaborate with external service providers to ensure contract compliance and reliable service delivery.
- Design, document, and update business continuity plans, as well as create and maintain network diagrams and procedural documentation.
- Train, mentor, and guide department employees while overseeing daily operations within the team.
- Play a leadership role in department initiatives and strategic projects, focusing on infrastructure enhancements and technological advancements.
- Participate in on-call rotation for off-hours critical systems monitoring and support, carrying a cell phone to respond promptly to system issues and emergencies.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a computer technical field or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3-5 years of experience in infrastructure support or a similar role.
- Proficiency in Windows Operating Systems, Microsoft Active Directory, and virtual environments.
- Knowledge of network security protocols, including patch management, access controls, and vulnerability remediation.
- Familiarity with Network+ certification or VMware Certified Professional designation (desired).
- Experience with financial institutions or credit unions (preferred).
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work cohesively with cross-functional teams.
- Willingness to work extended hours and participate in on-call rotations to support critical system issues and initiatives.
- Proven ability to document processes, create network diagrams, and maintain up-to-date technical documentation.
