Our client is seeking a skilled and experienced Systems Administrator to join their team and support the Public Safety's Digital Forensic Lab (DFL). The ideal candidate will bring technical expertise, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently to support critical systems and infrastructure. This role requires a strong blend of system administration and network engineering expertise and involves managing complex technical systems in a high-security environment.
This is an onsite position located in Phoenix, AZ, near Greenway Rd and I-17. Remote work is not authorized.
Overview
The Systems Administrator plays a vital role in managing, maintaining, and optimizing network systems, servers, and digital forensic infrastructure. This individual will oversee critical systems, network architecture, and hardware configurations, ensuring performance, data integrity, and compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a computer systems administrator, domain administrator, network engineer, and systems adviser to the DFL.
- Provide expert-level management of Cisco, Hewlett-Packard, and Mellanox hardware and configurations.
- Manage network hardware, software, and architecture design.
- Maintain and upgrade domain and file servers, as well as Storage Area Network (SAN) infrastructure.
- Archive and restore case files from tape libraries.
- Configure and set up forensic workstations and related hardware.
- Manage Active Directory and set up new domain users.
- Provide technical support for servers, SAN, lab networks, and client workstations.
- Collaborate with multiple agencies and teams to troubleshoot network issues.
- Track, maintain, and update software licenses, dongles, and user access.
- Install and configure hardware and software according to DPS and DFL standards.
- Ensure antivirus software updates and system security patches are applied.
- Collaborate with Certified Forensic Computer Examiners (CFCE) to resolve hardware and software challenges.
- Plan, initiate, and oversee technical projects related to networks, security, and cloud environments.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, system architecture designs, and network mapping.
- Testify in court proceedings regarding system integrity and data security.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems or related field preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in comparable technical projects.
- Minimum of two (2) years of computer administration experience in a large-scale (1,000+ employees) environment.
- Previous experience working on government projects preferred.
- Strong understanding of network security, server maintenance, and system architecture.
- Expertise in Cisco, Hewlett-Packard, and Mellanox hardware solutions.
- Proficiency in managing Active Directory, SAN, and domain servers.
- Familiarity with antivirus software management and updates.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to develop and interpret technical documentation and manuals.
- Flexibility to work nights and weekends as needed.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
