We are currently on the lookout for a talented Systems Administrator to enhance their team and provide support for the Public Safety's Digital Forensic Lab (DFL). The perfect candidate will possess a wealth of technical knowledge, proficient problem-solving abilities, and demonstrate capability for independent work in managing essential systems and infrastructure. This position necessitates a robust mix of system administration and network engineering skills, working within a high-security framework to oversee intricate technical systems.
This role is based onsite in Phoenix, AZ, conveniently located near Greenway Rd and I-17. Remote work options are not available.
Position Overview
The Systems Administrator is critical for the operation, maintenance, and enhancement of network systems, servers, and digital forensic infrastructure. This professional will be responsible for the stewardship of vital systems, network architecture, and hardware setups, ensuring operational efficiency, data fidelity, and adherence to industry benchmarks.
Primary Duties
- Serve as the principal computer systems administrator, domain administrator, network engineer, and systems consultant for the DFL.
- Exercise advanced management of Cisco, Hewlett-Packard, and Mellanox hardware and configurations.
- Oversee the architecture design of network hardware, software, and layout.
- Maintain and upgrade domain/file servers, along with Storage Area Network (SAN) infrastructure.
- Archive and restore legal case files using tape libraries.
- Set up and configure forensic workstations and associated equipment.
- Administer Active Directory and establish new domain users.
- Deliver technical support for servers, SANs, laboratory networks, and client workstations.
- Collaborate with various agencies and teams to troubleshoot networking issues.
- Monitor, track, and keep software licenses, dongles, and user access current.
- Install and configure hardware and software in line with DPS and DFL standards.
- Ensure that antivirus software and system security patches are routinely updated.
- Work jointly with Certified Forensic Computer Examiners (CFCE) to address hardware and software-related challenges.
- Plan, initiate, and manage technical projects associated with networks, security, and cloud infrastructures.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, system architecture designs, and network mapping diagrams.
- Provide expert testimony in court regarding system reliability and data security.
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems or a relevant field is preferred.
- At least five (5) years of experience in similar technical roles.
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience in computer administration within a large-scale (1,000+ employees) environment.
- Experience with government projects is a plus.
- In-depth knowledge of network security, server upkeep, and system architecture.
- Proficiency with Cisco, Hewlett-Packard, and Mellanox hardware products.
- Expertise in managing Active Directory, SANs, and domain servers.
- Familiar with antivirus software maintenance and updates.
- Exceptional analytical and troubleshooting capabilities.
- Strong oral and written communication abilities.
- Skillful in developing and interpreting technical documentation and manuals.
- Willingness to accommodate a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends as necessary.
- Ability to prioritize tasks independently and effectively.
