The City of Topeka's Information Technology department is seeking qualified applicants to serve as a Service Desk Technician. This incumbent is responsible for provisioning, maintenance, and support of PCs, mobile computing systems, and related peripheral systems for the organization. This position provides direct customer support and IT consulting to all levels of staff.
Primary duties include:
- Responds to and processes requests obtained through the IT service desk system.
- Installs, configures, and supports desktop, laptop, mobile devices, printers, and other systems.
- Installs, configures, and supports PC and mobile operating systems, desktop applications and software systems.
The ideal candidate:
- Has excellent customer service skills.
- Is a skilled multi-tasker with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Has demonstrated experience in the installation, configuration, and support of operating systems, office suites, web browsers, and application systems.
Minimum qualifications:
- Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, computer information systems, business administration or an equivalent field. A combination of education, certification, and two years� experience that is equivalent to the minimum qualifications isacceptable.
- Minimum one year of experience working in an IT service desk environment supporting IT Customers.
- One year of experience installing, configuring, and supporting desktop, laptop, mobile devices, printers, plotters, scanners, multifunction printing/scanning systems, and related components required.
- Comptia A+ certification, MCA Modern Desktop Administrator certification, MCP desktop certification are preferred.
- Must be insurable within the standards set by the City of Topeka�s insurance carrier and possess and maintain a valid Kansas driver's license.

Entry rate of pay: $25.38 - $30.45 per hour,DOQ
