Position Purpose
The Senior Systems Engineer plays a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining systems to ensure optimal functionality, security, and compliance with standards like SOC 2, HIPAA, and ISO. Operating within an Agile Scrum framework, this position actively collaborates with IT leadership, departmental teams, and business stakeholders to support organizational goals through robust system management and policy enforcement.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive the removal of technical debt through effective solutions and process improvements.
- Stay current with emerging technologies, avoiding reliance on outdated systems.
- Work with business leaders to define and meet technology requirements.
- Engage with vendors to evaluate and recommend hardware/software solutions.
- Lead critical IT projects, ensuring timelines, dependencies, and resources are clearly communicated.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive policies, procedures, and training materials for system usage.
- Design and manage telecommunication systems, including call centers and fax systems.
- Analyze and implement new technologies aligned with company objectives.
- Ensure systems comply with industry regulations, creating detailed documentation to support audits and disaster recovery planning.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to peers, fostering a collaborative learning environment.
Minimum Qualifications
- 7+ years of progressive system administration experience.
- Expertise in managing both physical and virtual environments.
- Strong knowledge of configuring Azure platforms, security protocols, and performance optimization.
- Familiarity with TCP/IP networking and various protocols (DNS, LDAP, NFS, etc.).
- Proficiency in scripting languages like PowerShell or Perl.
- Microsoft Windows Desktop/Servers, Office 365, and Unix/Linux systems expertise.
Preferred Certifications
- Scrum certification (e.g., PSD I or PSM I).
- Azure certifications, including AZ-900 (required) and AZ-104 (required).
- Additional certifications in ITIL, CompTIA A+, or Jira Cloud preferred.
