Staff Software Engineer (Platform) (StubHub, Inc., New York, NY)
Develop robust, mission-critical systems using multiple general-purpose programming languages (including C/C++, Java, C#, and Objective-C). Implement core components and frameworks that ensure high performance, reliability, and security of the global ticketing platform. Drive the adoption of best practices in coding, testing, and deployment processes across the engineering organization. Participate in long-term platform strategy and roadmap planning, providing insights based on technical expertise and industry trends. Stay updated with the latest technologies, tools, and best practices in software engineering, and proactively introduce innovations to the platform team. Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain impactful software development improvements across platform products and services used by the engineering organization. Collaborate with team members to ensure best practices are followed for using platform products and services. Handle individual initiative priorities, deadlines, and deliverables with technical expertise. Mentor team members and help increase their technical capabilities, fostering a culture of inclusion, results-oriented execution, open innovation, and limitless creativity. Own projects from the initial idea creation through to deployment production, including managing stakeholders and coordinating across teams. Build solutions leveraging infrastructure, databases, data processing, machine learning, distributed systems, and API’s. Telecommuting may be permitted up to 3 days per week. When not telecommuting, must report to StubHub Inc. at 3 World Trade Center – 175 Greenwich Street, 59th Floor, New York, NY 10007. Salary: $256,000 to $350,000 per year.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree or U.S. equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, or a related field, plus 5 years of professional experience as a Software Engineer, Software Developer, or any occupation/position/job title involving software development.
In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, employer will accept 3 years of post-secondary studies in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, or related field, plus 1 year of experience with software development, plus 5 years of experience as a Software Engineer, Software Developer, or any occupation/position/job title involving software development.
Must also have experience in the following: 5 years of professional experience developing systems using programming languages including C/C++ and Java; 5 years of professional experience building software with infrastructure, databases, data processing, distributed systems, security, privacy, and API integrations; 5 years of professional experience designing and developing solutions to technical and business problems and owning software development projects from initial idea creation to production; 5 years of professional experience with ensuring systems interact with broader production environments, including dependencies and platform primitives; 5 years of professional experience mentoring junior engineers; and 5 years of professional experience performing UI development using JavaScript and React.
