Responsibilities:
• Provide software development, continuous integration, software delivery, systems administration, software quality, and systems documentation support to the agency’s digital assets, including their public-facing web site, as well as internal software tools;
• Meet with the Application Development Team and content contributors to develop and discuss strategies and plans for the agency’s web products, to analyze web content needs, and to propose ways these web products can address those needs;
• Assist with configuration, usage, and monitoring of cloud-based infrastructure services including but not limited to AWS EKS, EC2, RDS, Lambda, Elastic Container Service, CloudFormation;
• Perform administration to Red Hat-based and CentOS-based systems and Apache-based and nginx-based web servers to include troubleshooting, monitoring and proactive problem fixing and documentation;
• Assist in building a strong technical foundation in build, release, and production using continuous integration tools such as Jenkins and infrastructure provisioning tools such Ansible;
• Engage with various personnel to understand requirements in order to develop better software for the agency and identify new ways in which the development team can easily solve issues;
• Collaborate with stakeholders on the design, development, and data teams to build valuable tools that benefit the agency’s day-to-day operations and broader missions;
• Provide training and expertise on a variety of DevOps methodologies, technologies, best- practices, and tools along with insight into new technologies and solutions that could help the Application Team and the agency at large; and
• Assist in the development of Use Cases, Requirements Definition Documents, User and Administration Manuals, Detailed Design Specifications, and Training Manuals and Plans
• Provide architectural expertise, documentation, and implementation for deploying and scaling applications to a multi-tenant cloud environment
Requirements:
• U.S. citizenship required.
• Bachelor’s degree in related field
• At least 10 years of experience deploying and configuring infrastructure services, including 3-5 years of senior level experience using AWS IaaS and demonstrated experience in the following:
• Experience delivering software to an AWS EKS containerized cloud environment, with a focus on optimization, troubleshooting, and monitoring
• Experience with Helm, Kubectl, Docker and customizing an AWS EKS cluster
• Experience building, scanning and optimizing Docker images and working with AWS ECR
• Utilize Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to develop, deploy, and maintain AWS environments and services to include AWS service catalog products
• Experience building and maintain CI/CD pipelines, data pipelines, tooling, and processes to support development, deployment, and monitoring
• Experience defining, deploying, and maintaining monitoring, metrics, and logging on a Cloud Native distributed application
• Experience with AWS Prometheus and Grafana or New Relic
• Expertise in configuring, deploying, and disaster recovery of services such as PostgreSQL RDS, AWS EKS, Jenkins and containerized workloads
• Expertise in automating continuous delivery pipelines (Jenkins/Travis/Ansible)
• Experience designing, managing, and maintaining tools to automate operational processes with tools such as Chef or Puppet
• Experience working with Github for source code management and planning
• Experience working with Github Actions and webhooks
• Experience managing cloud native applications in a EKS cluster deployed in a federal AWS environment
• Experience working with open source and community solutions
• Experience in FedRamp IaaS/SaaS
