Engages with strategic customers, builds leadership relationships at multiple levels within organizations in order to design and implement solutions. Works directly with customers to gather requirements, develop architectures and translates business needs into solutions. May implement solutions and ensure successful deployments through code development and scripting. Displays product/application understanding through highly customized presentation demonstrations to customers, and at conferences, and events. Supports customer from Proof of Concept (POC) through production deployment of services via resource configuration, planning, and customer education/training. Creates and distributes technical assets (white papers, solution code, blog posts, and video demonstrations). Serves as a leading contributor for customers and sales on technical cloud solutions and customer success. Identifies gaps and enhancements to influence engineering roadmaps for customer driven features. Leading contributor, may provide direction and mentoring to others. Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. May interact with C level. Maintains expertise by staying current on emerging technologies.
Minimum qualifications include: 8 years experience with computer applications and tools required. Ability to travel 50% international and domestic.

The Master Principal / Principal Cloud Consumption Architect is Oracle’s post-sales focused, partnering with OCI customers to design and execute the most optimal strategy to accelerate their workload implementation and drive consumption growth, gaining customer confidence, identifying adjacent and new workloads for adoption using OCI services and demonstrating Oracle’s overall commitment to customers’ realization of their business objectives. This leader takes enthusiastic ownership of customers’ success in achieving their business goals and fully realizing their return on OCI investment.
Responsibilities
The Cloud Consumption Architect has two-fold goals:
- Ensure that the customer who has newly committed to move/deploy their workload in OCI does so successfully while meeting or beating their implementation schedule and achieving/ exceeding their consumption plan
- For customers with unused OCI cloud credits, strategize with them to identify adjacent or new workloads to implement, prove their business and technical feasibility and develop a consumption strategy in order to realize the full return on their OCI cloud credit investment
To accomplish these goals, the Cloud Architect will:
- Partner with customers, pre-sales ECAs, sales, and product engineering teams to design/validate workload implementation architectures and the supporting consumption plans
- Achieve/Exceed consumption plan by identifying and providing resolution pathways for consumption blockers (engineering, product features, implementation best practices etc.) and accelerate adoption of OCI services
- Build credibility with customers’ leadership and stakeholders by leading from the front to ensure successful implementations and foster confidence to implement additional workloads in OCI
- Build strategic relationships with key stakeholders and influencers to identify their success KPIs and show how OCI solutions can help achieve those KPIs
- Work directly with customers to understand requirements, develop architectures and translate business needs into solutions
- Mature and accelerate OCI adoption by educating customers on implementation, architecture, operational, and support best practices
- Swarm customer engagements as needed with Oracle specialists, product engineers, and support personnel to prove concepts, remove blockers and educate on best practices
- Use Enterprise Cloud Architecture skills to advise, guide and recommend Oracle services by leading “Art of Possible” and technical working sessions and presentations
- Leverage working knowledge of project management to collaborate with customers’ project managers in proactively identifying technology risks, design and recommend mitigation and communication plans
- Gain customer and market mindshare by creating and disseminating reusable technical assets like implementation guidance, white papers, blogs, conference presentations, implementation, and architecture frameworks
- Work with customer to mature their cloud centers of excellence in partnership with Oracle
- Identify gaps and enhancements to influence engineering roadmaps for customer driven features.
Overall, the Cloud Architect should be viewed as a leader by their peers (customers, Oracle ecosystem and industry at large) and as an authority in business value realization, technical architecture with a proven commitment to customers’ success.
