About this role:
We are seeking a Cloud Engineer who is driven, see's and resolves challenges, and is keen to step up and make things happen. The role is based in Melbourne working with the wider USS team to design, implement and deliver architectural enhancements and optimisations to support our product and business roadmap.
Duties:
This is an exciting role where you'll be leading the dev team and have end to end ownership of cloud operations on AWS. You'll work within an Agile environment to design, build and maintain cloud infrastructure solutions that enable USS to better deliver and manage cloud software for their customers.
The role encompasses a blend of technical skills as part of a project delivery team, with joint responsibility for ensuring customer satisfaction through successful delivery of high-quality innovative solutions and excellent services.
You'll use tools like Terraform, Ansible and Helm to design, develop and maintain infrastructure as a code on all environment. You'll manage and improve CI/CD pipeline using GitLab and manage data platforms like MySQL and Apache Cassandra.

Skills and experience:
• Degree in IT or relevant certification.
• Strong understanding of DevOps principles and processes
• Strong Amazon Web Services (AWS)
• Strong in containerisation technologies like Docker, Kubernetes and EKS
• Strong experience in infrastructure as a code and cloud automation
• Strong understanding of well architected framework and implementing cloud operations best practices
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) processes
• Strong understanding of Full Tech Stack SaaS solution architecture models and microservices including Integration tools and methods
• Experience with Linux/UNIX system administration and networking
• Experience in defining and implementing IT security policies
• Experience in managing MySQL and Apache Cassandra
• Previous experience working within the Energy Retail industry would be highly advantageous.
• Advantageous to have experience in Java/SQL as a developer
