Job Overview
We are looking for a hands-on Python/Cloud engineer to work on infrastructure/Cloud team that is responsible to enable Public Cloud AWS Services for Arrowstreet’s upcoming next-gen IT platform.
Responsibilities
This role will include:
Act as a subject matter expert on Python stack for Cloud / Infrastructure team and actively engage in advancing the skills and maturity of the team in this space.
Adopt and act in accordance with the team’s mindset of “Delivery as/with code by design.”
Improve the production and security posture of Cloud / Infrastructure team/landscape by designing and factoring new framework with the team to serve this goal.
As part of the Cloud team, actively contribute to identify use-cases to consume AWS Public Cloud based on the defined pillars (versus lift and shift).
For our AWS Organization, automate and open on secure way AWS Services to map ASC Ecosystem (including some integration) and Security.
Engage in “APIzation” of infrastructure pillars to serve IAC Cloud CI/CD deployment.
Build and maintain effective partnerships with key cross functional leaders and team members. Transversal leadership and ability to federate is key for this team position.
The role will focus on delivering this transformation / automation in strong collaboration and federation across Application teams across the IT organization. The position drives innovation across teams and provides mentorship to members of IT teams (especially on Python) with a goal of continuous long-term improvement.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s (Master’s preferred) degree in Computer Engineering or related field; at least 5 years of prior experience. Financial services exposure is a plus.
Solid software engineering background with 5+ years’ experience in developing enterprise python products / event-driven products including modern notions like OOP, TDD, containerization and microservices
1-2 years’ experience in developing and maintaining cloud automation tooling (AWS preferred so boto3 Python library – Experience with Azure As Code is a plus)
Proven record of building / designing Python framework/application
Proven record of building DevOps API to support “Infra As Code” approach in CI/CD context so a solid experience with Python/Flask/ FastAPI/Swagger and CI/CD (Git/Gitlab/Github/ Gitlab CI/Jenkins)
Working on daily basis with Linux-based operating systems
Working on daily basis with Kanban or Agile Scrum sprint
Strong passion for technology, a willingness to learn new skills and the ability to evangelize
Self-motivated and self-directed, ability to translate technical direction into functional solutions
Team player with a positive, proactive and team-oriented attitude
Ability to work effectively, managing multiple priorities while collaborating with cross-functional teams
Proven ability to investigate complex issues spanning multiple technologies and drive to completion
Ability to work with vendors, management, and staff at all levels within the organization
