Summary
The Staff Regulatory Compliance Engineer, works in cross functional teams with designers, customers and manufacturing engineering and project leaders to ensure products designed can meet regulatory and compliance specifications. Detailed Description
Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:
- Lead compliance analysis and work with the design teams to ensure the products designed can meet regulatory and compliance specifications.
- Work with the design team and customers to understand and define compliance requirements of products.
- Conduct design review and close loops with the design team to fix design issues.
- Define the compliance testing strategy, test plan and conduct test.
- Coordinate third-party performance and compliance testing.
- Train relevant manufacturing partner personnel to conduct the test.
- Perform compliance testing and generate failure reports.
- Design guidelines recommendations based on pre-analysis and testing.
- Actively collaborate with the engineering team and seek opportunities to develop new/improve existing test methodology to enhance product development efficiency.
- Apply problem-solving and analytical skills to conduct failure analysis.
- Check the status of various business operations to ensure compliance with regulations.
Knowledge/Skills/Competencies
- 5+ years compliance expertise in EMC / EMI testing and design analysis for Electronic products ( Communication, Enterprise products ).
- Proficiency in report writing, analysis and compliance procedures.
- Thorough understanding of regulatory frameworks.
- The ability to communicate complex ideas verbally and in writing.
- Expertise and hands on experience with the following certifications: EMC, EN, RC, UL, ISO, CDRH, FDA, EMI, ESD, CE
- Hands on experience with regulatory test equipment including but not limited to spectrum analyzer, oscilloscope and signal generators.
- Experience working with third party test houses for EMC testing services to various FCC standards and the CE certification requirements of the EU
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Project management and data analysis skills.
- Able to work independently, self-motivated and well-organized.
Physical Demands
- Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.
- Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.
- Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.
- Occasional travel may be required.
Typical Experience
- 7 to 10 years of related experience;
Typical Education
- Bachelor's degree in electrical, electronic or mechanical engineering.
