Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Systems Administrator to join our IT team. This entry-level role is perfect for individuals who are passionate about technology and looking to grow their career in systems administration. The Junior Systems Administrator will assist with the maintenance, configuration, and troubleshooting of our client’s IT systems, ensuring smooth and efficient operation across the network and servers.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the installation, configuration, and management of IT systems, servers, and networks.
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot hardware and software issues to ensure smooth operations.
- Perform routine system backups and data recovery tasks.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls.
- Provide technical support and assistance to end-users, addressing IT-related issues via email, phone, or in person.
- Assist with the implementation of security policies and ensure systems are protected from unauthorized access.
- Assist with software updates, patches, and general maintenance tasks.
- Support the senior systems administrator and other IT staff on projects, system upgrades, and new technologies.
- Keep detailed documentation of configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
- Participate in IT-related troubleshooting and emergency response as needed.
Qualifications
- Education: Associate's or bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience:
- 1-3 years of experience in a system administration or IT support role preferred.
- Technical Skills:
- Understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
- Familiarity with Active Directory, DNS, and file-sharing protocols (e.g., SMB, NFS).
- Basic knowledge of server administration, including setup, configuration, and maintenance.
- Understanding of networking concepts, including VLANs, firewalls, and VPNs.
- Experience with Active Directory, user account management, and group policies.
