Title: Network Engineer
Location: Hybrid within the Northeastern Region
Description
The Network Engineer will maintain and administer computer networks, including hardware, software, and related systems, while ensuring network security and reliability. This role involves performing disaster recovery operations, troubleshooting network issues, and implementing scalable network architectures to support organizational growth.
Responsibilities
Develop and execute enterprise network architecture strategies focused on scalability, performance, and availability.
Administer network-related projects, including implementing MPLS circuits and escalating related issues.
Manage changes to the WAN/LAN, firewall, and router environments using the change management process.
Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network connectivity issues.
Replace faulty network hardware components as required.
Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot network switches, firewalls, data diodes, and routers.
Implement and manage patch updates for switches, routers, and firewalls.
Conduct root-cause analysis on IT and end-user support issues to prevent future problems.
Collaborate with the Cyber team to implement security controls and directives.
Monitor WAN bandwidth utilization and upgrade systems as necessary.
Required Skills
Associate's degree in Computer Science or a technical certification; Bachelor’s degree with a focus on network engineering preferred.
Minimum of 3 years of network engineering experience, including expertise in intrusion prevention, proxy, VPN, and remote access technologies.
Strong understanding of network infrastructure, hardware, designs, and topologies, with LAN/WAN experience.
Proficiency in troubleshooting and administering network infrastructure devices, including firewalls, routers, and switches.
Knowledge of network protocols and application transport layers.
Ability to create accurate network diagrams and documentation.
Proficiency in quickly learning new technologies and products.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Familiarity with information security best practices.
Valid driver’s license required; occasional travel based on business needs.
Desired Skills
Experience with utility industry networks and professional certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP).
Familiarity with Forinet devices and Cisco product lines.
Work Requirements
Availability for non-traditional hours and 24/7 on-call support.

Pay range: $73.5k-$105k/year
