The Network Engineer is responsible for the planning, design, evaluation, and troubleshooting of secure, mission-critical Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) systems. This role requires expertise in secure protocol suites, communication media configuration, and resolving complex interoperability challenges across multi-level secure networks. The Network Engineer will contribute to modernization efforts, provide technical guidance, and participate in engineering reviews to ensure optimal network performance and security.
Key Responsibilities:
- Extensive knowledge of Network Monitoring and Management tools such as Solarwinds NPM and Cisco Prime Network Manager.
- Experience designing and supporting large scale Enterprise WAN infrastructures using Cisco hardware, with emphasis related to the healthcare services industry is a plus.
- Experience in designing, implementing and supporting networks and the various protocols associated with IP based telephony.
- Experience implementing and supporting Quality of Service in the Enterprise networks for delivering critical applications.
- Advanced experience in configuring all types of Cisco hardware, Cisco IOS, and NX-OS.
- Knowledge of additional network products from various manufacturers is a plus (Juniper, Palo Alto, Aruba, etc).
- Extensive experience with EIGRP and BGP routing protocols.
- Experience with various technologies used to deliver highly redundant networks on all layers of the OSI Model.
- Knowledge and experience designing and managing WAN environments with extensive experience with WAN protocols such as MPLS Networks, dark fiber, point to multipoint networks, IPsec VPN.
- Experience with network security platforms and technologies such as ASA, Firepower, Cisco AMP, Cisco Umbrella.
- Experience with implementing and the daily administration of applications supporting DHCP/DNS such as InfoBlox, network load balancing with F5 or Citrix Netscalers technologies.
- Experience leading a technical team on large projects with various groups, spanning several months.
- Skilled at documenting designs and policies associated with networks.
- Maintain proper documentation of system configurations.
- Share in providing on-call technical support after hours and on weekends as needed.
- Must provide end user support via enterprise ticketing system
- Must be familiar with Network providers (Verizon, CenturyLink, etc.) for troubleshooting, order management, and new technologies.
- Applicants must possess the skills to work with industry standard cabling.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
- Must possess a high school diploma or GED
- 10+ years of network engineering experience in routing/switching
- 5+ years of network security experience (Firewalls, security tools, threat mitigation, etc.)
- 5+ years of Enterprise Wireless experience
Certification Requirements:
- CCNP Enterprise, CCNP Data Center, CCNP Security, or CCNP Collaboration
