Information Technology Network and Systems Administrator

SUMMARY OF POSITION: System and network IT generalists handling a wide range of tasks, including assisting with the installation and management of the company infrastructure, cloud-infrastructure, servers, phone systems, networks, user support, backups, hardware/software maintenance, and end-user software product evaluation and implementation. The position ensures consistency and proper implementation, and maintenance of technology is adhered to. This person is also responsible for regional tier 2 IT support.

Responsibilities:

The Network and Systems Administrator plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability, security, and efficiency of Guardian Fleet Services’ IT infrastructure. We are a heavily user-based SaaS company with a minimal number of servers. This position needs to stay up-to-date with the latest technology trends and security threats to effectively manage and protect our network and systems.

Network Administration:
- Design, implement, and manage network configurations to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Monitor network traffic, identify and resolve network issues, and optimize network performance.
- Configure and maintain network hardware, such as routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Implement and manage network security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and VPNs.
- Perform routine network maintenance, backups, and updates.
Systems Administration:
- Administer and maintain servers and virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Azure).
- Install, configure, and update operating systems and server software.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize server resources.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access control across the network.
- Perform regular system backups and disaster recovery planning.
Voice Administration:
- Deploy, configure, and maintain VoIP systems, including hardware and software components.
- rMonitor the health and performance of VoIP systems to ensure optimal call quality and reliability.

Security and Compliance:
- Implement and enforce security policies and procedures to protect the network, systems, and physical plant.
- Monitor and document security threats and vulnerabilities and respond to security incidents.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Hardware and Software Maintenance:
- Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues on desktops, laptops, and other end-user devices.
- Install, update, and maintain software applications, including antivirus and productivity tools.
- Manage hardware inventory and procurement.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate documentation of network and system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
- Generate reports on network and system performance, security, and compliance.
User Support:
- Provide technical support to end-users, including troubleshooting hardware and software problems.
- Train employees on using IT resources and tools effectively.
Software Evaluation/Implementation:
- Gather software requirements.
- Evaluate enterprise software and applications.
- Develop and implement a deployment plan.

Travel: Up to 50% travel required as needed

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in IT or equivalent, preferred.
Proven experience in network, systems, and voice administration, typically 3-5 years.
Strong knowledge of networking protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VoIP and VPN.
Attention to detail, high level of accuracy and ability to manage numerous projects.
Proficiency in Windows operating systems, Azure and Office 365.
Familiarity with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and tools.
Experience with server and network hardware (e.g., Dell, Cisco Meraki, and Ubiquiti).
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Successfully completed state required background check and drug testing.
