Chief Technology and Information Officer

Title: Chief Technology and Information Officer

Unit: Administration Service Center

Reports to: Superintendent

Supervises: Staff members designated by the Superintendent

Summary:

Lead, oversee, coordinate, direct, and manage the administration of the technology department across the district including technology infrastructure, compliance, digital security, and resource allocation. This includes oversight and management of the District’s web presence and social media footprint as well as managing all aspects of the District’s Technology Plan.

Education and Related Work Experience:

A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in computer science or information technology systems or a type 10 technology specialist or media technology degree (or equivalent). Proficient in the management of printers, copy machines, server hardware, server OS and Voice/phone system controllers and phone devices.Proficient in the set up and management of firewalls, core switches and routers, edge switches, and wireless access points. Experience in multiple uses of the Internet and technology for teaching and learning in a school environment. Experience with email systems and Google administrative console. Successful technology application training experience in private and/or public sectors. Knowledge of technology trends in education. Strong organizational, planning, and managerial skills. Excellent collaborator and communicator. Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills. Ability to create, monitor, and analyze the technology budget and resource allocation. High level of personal and professional standards and ethics and effective customer service. Such acceptable alternatives to the previously stated qualifications may be approved by the Board of Education.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Design, procure, install, and use professional judgment in effecting emergency repairs to the network and communications equipment (LAN and WAN) as well as configuration changes and additions for daily operations
Deploy, manage, troubleshoot, and patch Firewall, Switches, Wireless access points, Virtualized server environment (hardware and hypervisor), Windows servers, Linux servers, storage servers, backup and recovery solutions, phone systems, building alarm systems, cameras, access control system, visitor management system.
Troubleshoot and maintain VPN connection for staff devices.
Deploy software using automated systems (SCCM, Lansweeper).
Manage, troubleshoot, fix Microsoft Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, and Group Policy.
Deploy, manage, troubleshoot, and fix MFA for local devices/users, servers, and cloud based accounts.
Create images and update deployed software in SCCM for yearly device imaging.
Manage MDM (mobile device management) system for iPads.
Manage and maintain SOPPA and DPA compliance.
Complete yearly security assessments and manage changes.
Analyze, prioritize, and address monthly vulnerability scans.
Yearly computerized student assessments (Access, CogAT, DLM, PSAT, IAR, ISA).
Manage classroom technology - Interactive panels, document cameras, docking stations
Deploy, troubleshoot, and maintain the web filter.
Deploy, troubleshoot, and maintain EDR software and licensing.
Provide and manage the support for administrative applications
Provide staff leadership and training to ensure understanding and promotion of the educational services of the district. Act as a leader in fostering professional growth and staff morale throughout the district. Provide counsel to administrators and responsible staff regarding technology systems, operations, and integration.
Coordinate the development, implementation, and evaluation of the District’s technology plan
Direct the planning for the acquisition and updating of instructional hardware and software and relocation of equipment as needed
Manage the troubleshooting and repair of data communication systems and technology infrastructure
Oversee the regular maintenance schedule of all equipment and the maintenance of accurate records (time and material required to perform any repairs and service)
Manage the preservation of the district technology hardware and software inventory
Oversee the implementation of technology safety procedures and techniques to promote safe working conditions
Assist in curriculum and assessment designed to ensure that technology skills are embedded throughout the instructional program
Design and teach technology courses for staff in Windows, MS Office, and/or Google Suite, multimedia, Internet access applications, content-oriented instructional software, and other emerging technology applications
Develop and utilize software documentation including tip sheets, workshop handouts, hardware and software guides, etc.
Assist teachers and staff in using technology with students to enhance and support learning
Oversee ongoing technical support for certified staff and educational support personnel
Manage and coordinate District websites
Oversee social media programs, platforms, and content
Develop and maintain documentation and procedures specific to network applications, using standard techniques and practices
Stay current with emerging trends and literature in the area of education technology and integration
Travel to buildings regularly for the purpose of providing instructional support to staff at the building level as needed
Assist teachers in a consultative role with the evaluation, selection, and use of developmentally appropriate instructional software
Produce such written reports and proposals as directed which are necessary in carrying out the functions of the position
Monitor and advertise outside technology training opportunities for the District staff
Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal mandates
