Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Cloud Engineer with solid Database experience to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in database administration and a deep understanding of DevOps principles and practices. As a DevOps Database Engineer, you will be responsible for managing and optimizing our database systems, ensuring high performance, availability, and security. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement database solutions that meet current and future needs. Additionally, you will play a key role in automating processes, implementing infrastructure as code, and driving continuous improvement in our database operations.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties (Primary Responsibilities) include the following.

Architect, deploy, and manage cloud-native solutions, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and reliability on platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.

Manage and optimize database systems throughout the entire lifecycle, from development to production.

Configure and maintain database servers and processes, ensuring high levels of performance, availability, and security.

Apply data modeling techniques to ensure development and implementation support efforts meet integration and performance expectations.

Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real-time, providing end-to-end problem resolution.

Perform capacity planning and projection for future growth.

Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes. Additionally, identify opportunities for automation, develop scripts and tools to streamline operational tasks, and improve efficiency.

Assist developers with complex query tuning and schema refinement.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and design database solutions that meet current and future needs.

Migrate legacy database systems to cloud environments, leveraging best practices and minimizing downtime and disruptions.

Support legacy database systems as necessary

Develop and maintain infrastructure as code templates and scripts for provisioning and managing cloud resources.

Use tools like Terraform or CloudFormation to provision and manage infrastructure resources in a declarative and version-controlled manner.

Implement monitoring and logging solutions to gain insights into system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability.

Develop and maintain automated build, test, and deployment processes to ensure efficient and reliable software delivery.

Implement automation workflows for deployment, scaling, and monitoring of cloud-based database instances using tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or Azure Resource Manager.

Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement optimizations to improve system reliability and efficiency.

Respond to and resolve production incidents in a timely manner, conducting root cause analysis and implementing preventive measures.

Implement robust security measures to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with industry regulations.

Stay up to date with emerging cloud technologies and best practices and recommend innovative solutions to enhance our database operations.

Qualifications

Qualifications to perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the experience .

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.

Strong experience in database administration, including performance tuning, backup and recovery, and security.

Proficiency in SQL and database query optimization.

7+ years’ experience with AWS Databases, such as NoSQL, Aurora, RDS, RedShift

2+ years’ experience in cloud infrastructure technologies, such as EC2, EBS, s3, Load Balancers, Identity Management

Experience with Azure DevOps, Infrastructure as a Code (IaC) and CI/CD Pipelines and lifecycle.

Experience working with Windows, Linux, and Unix operating systems., physical and virtual.

Experience with Dynamic Data Masking, data security and encryption.

Experience with reporting services, integration services, and analysis services.

Experience with high Availability and redundancy for databases and cloud technologies.

Solid understanding of DevOps principles and practices.

Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.

Familiarity with infrastructure as code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.

Knowledge of automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Bash).

Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Excellent communication, Documentation, and collaboration abilities.

Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.

Experience working in an Agile environment (Kanban / Scrum)

Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Database - Specialty, Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate) are a plus.
